elcome to the Lawdogs mod website! Lawdogs is the first Wild Western style modification for Unreal Tournament 2003.
Lawdogs aims to capture the exciting atmosphere and deadly gun battles from the American 'old West. The mod will be a multiplayer only experience and will feature realistically replicated weapons from the era along with new gametypes, characters, maps & new features such as rideable Horses!
The mod is currently in early stages of development (internal alpha), and there is no set date for a release at this stage. But... we do have a lot of information and media about the project on this site. We also have a forum up and running, so feel free to stop by, maybe ask some questions or just have a chat about Lawdogs.

Subtractions and Additions -- Posted by Gusher on Saturday, August 9 2003
I would like to let you all know that Mike Rusby a.K.a. Ruz has finally retired from the team. He did a great deal of 3d work including two fine characters for the mod and also contributed alot of 2d work for the mod. Mike states he would like to get involved in high poly modeling which will leave him very little time to work with the "LawDogs" project. Anyway, all of us here wanna wish you the best in luck and appreciate the grand help you've contributed to this project. Thank you!

Finally, I would like to let you all know that we have a few new people working for "LawDogs" Mod. First we have Steve who has been doing level design since the first Unreal game came out. Currently, he's working on a CTF railroad map which will feature a boardable train that takes players back and forth between two territories. Second mapper is Shokozulu also known as "Pale Rider" well known for the giant map designs, stated he will be making a few maps for the mod. We also recieved word from the people at http://www.wessexrecords.com that they will compose several music tracks for the project. They also will offer any of their 1000's of sound effects from their library of sounds to use with the mod.

In the next couple of weeks there will be additional website updates and new content. There suppose to be a video of ingame footage but has been delayed until September. In the meantime, you can go play the wild west version of the old UT UnrealBadlands

Good News & Tutorial -- Posted by Gusher on Friday, August 8 2003
Hello all, been awhile since I last posted...we have good news and we're very happy about it! Mr. Evil, LawDog's Mod main coder has been selected for the finals for the "Make Something Unreal" Contest....even though his NaliBricks mod didn't make it but his "Weapons of Evil" weapons mutator pack and "Sentinel" made it to the finals! What makes me even prouder is that I did some of my skinning for those weapons so I really hope the "Woe" pack wins! Wish us luck y'all!.....you can find more information about it at http://unreal.epicgames.com/

Finally, Mr. Evil has gratiously contributed a tutorial that shows you how to make the weapons reload coding and uses the code he used for "LawDogs" Mod....you can find and learn more about it at http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/Reloading_Weapons ..Ain't we lawmen here at "LawDogs" too nice? Now git boy! Go on and learn how to use the code!

Development Update -- Posted by Gusher on Wednesday, July 23 2003
Mike, the creator and designer of "Lawdogs" character models has just sent me an update of the marshal and decided to share it with you. It's still a work in progress assignment and there may be more changes along the way..Both the marshal and outlaw will have additional animations to complement how the weapons are used in 3rd person view..so if a player using double-pistols then you will see him really using double pistols...Now who wants to be the marshal?

Update -- Posted by Gusher on Sunday, July 20 2003
I want to let you all new that the "LawDogs" team is growing! I can't beleieve how interested many mod developers are with this mod. All I can say is we wanna be sure it's made well and the way you want it to be. Anyhow, there's still a position for a musician and if we still don't get this position covered we can still get it covered by independent musicians.

Now for the new members we have a cool young man, Wenceslao Villanueva a.k.a "El Mariachi" who has joined the "Lawdogs" team to offer coding and will be under Mr. Evil's direction and he's a recent graduate of University of Berkely and obtained a BA in Cognitive Science Computational Modeling and an "unoficial" minor in computer science....and what not, welcome aboard!

Finally another new member known as Lt1 and will be making static meshes for the mappers and also will be making additional weapon models and skinning them. He also has a site of his own at http://www.lt1productions.com/utops.php ..there you will find alot of his modeling work and believe it or not but we have both teamed up with my other site http://www.planetunreal.com/prefablab/ to bring mappers and modders with the 3d art they need and I'm sure most of you mappers are excited about this because you will find or request models you can't get anywhere....and we're happy to have Lt1 on board with "LawDogs" mod.......welcome aboard!

Finally some candy for you wild west fans!
